On September 16, 2026, the Westminster School of Business (WBS) hosted a research colloquium featuring Andrey Artemenkov. He presented his study titled, "Input-output Tables for UZB: How Can They Be Used."
The research provided an overview of input-output tables for Uzbekistan's national economy and explored their application in analyzing price and quantity shocks across different sectors of the economy. Particular attention was given to value-added factors associated with pension contributions, as well as technological and environmental shocks related to the energy sector.
The study highlighted the importance of input-output tables as a source of structural information on the national economy and their complementarity with statistical-based sectoral research. The colloquium also demonstrated the application of Leontief price and quantity models using Excel and Stata, illustrating how these analytical tools can support applied research across a range of sectoral areas.
Following the presentation, Andrey received valuable recommendations and feedback from academic staff members to further develop the application of input-output modelling in publishable-quality applied research.
