The title of the dissertation is “The Impact of Technology Management on SME Internationalisation in Uzbekistan.”

In recent years, Uzbekistan has been undergoing rapid economic reforms, digital transformation, and increasing integration into the global economy. Within this changing environment, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play a central role in economic growth, employment generation, and export diversification. However, despite policy efforts aimed at supporting SME development, the level of internationalisation among Uzbek SMEs remains limited compared to their potential. At the same time, technological change has become one of the most decisive factors shaping firm competitiveness worldwide. Digital tools, automation, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and platform-based trade are transforming how firms access foreign markets. For SMEs in emerging economies such as Uzbekistan, effective technology management is no longer optional but essential for successful international expansion.
This research investigates how technology management practices influence the internationalisation outcomes of SMEs operating in Uzbekistan. The study focuses on how firms acquire, implement, and strategically manage technological resources and how these decisions affect export intensity, foreign market entry, and international performance. Unlike conceptual or qualitative studies, this dissertation adopts a strictly quantitative approach. The empirical analysis is based on survey data collected from Uzbek SMEs and employs econometrical modeling techniques to test the relationship between technology management variables and internationalisation indicators. The study aims to identify statistically significant effects and measure the magnitude of impact while controlling firm size, age, sector, and institutional environment.
By applying econometric methods, the research seeks to provide robust empirical evidence on whether and to what extent technology management enhances SMEs’ international competitiveness in Uzbekistan. The findings are expected to contribute to the literature on SME internationalisation in emerging economies and provide practical insights for policymakers seeking to strengthen export-oriented growth through digital and technological capacity development.
