PhD Project:

The title of the dissertation: “Managing Corporate social responsibility: Role of government”.

Socially responsible businesses are believed to contribute to the socio-economic well-being of nations by creating favourable working conditions, helping in need, preserving nature, and so on. All of which contribute to the creation of a favourable business environment for potential investors and improved country image in front of the global business arena. As Uzbekistan is moving towards an open economy, aims to increase exports, attract more foreign direct investment (FDI), shaping clear, consequently valuable CSR policy can be a significant contributing factor. As a result, the need arises for identifying the role of the government in creating the first CSR policy in Uzbekistan and further managing its adaptation and implementation. This research studies the potential roles of the government and by using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, the most suitable roles are identified and suggested. The particular emphasis is done on providing detailed recommendations for policy development. Further strategic recommendations are given for managing Corporate Social Responsibility in Uzbekistan.
