On December 17, 2025, the School of Business and Economics (SOBE) hosted a research colloquium featuring Yusufjon Polatov, a full-time PhD candidate in Management. He presented his study titled, “Enhancing Corporate Performance through Strategic Governance Reforms: Evidence from the Banking Sector of Uzbekistan.”
The research provides a timely investigation into the impact of corporate governance reforms on state-owned banks during Uzbekistan’s 2020–2025 reform period. Using a combination of financial ratio analysis, panel regression, and efficiency measures (DEA/SFA), the study evaluates how reforms have influenced bank profitability and operational efficiency. A key component of the analysis is the development of an SDG disclosure index, which assesses banks' sustainability readiness and its relationship with performance outcomes.
The presentation sparked a forward-looking dialogue on governance, sustainability, and financial sector resilience.
